HeartCare Partners seeks volunteers for heart study

WASE Image Jan 18

HeartCare Partners is seeking healthy volunteers aged 65 and over for the World Alliance Societies of Echocardiography (WASE) Normal Values Study to determine what a normal Australian heart should look like. The study is taking place in 16 countries and uses echocardiography (a safe and painless ultrasound procedure), to determine the normal values for heart size and valve function in people of different origin, race and ethnicity.

Volunteers would attend a one off appointment where the research team takes height, weight and blood pressure measurements and performs the 30-minute ultrasound ‘echo’ of the volunteer’s heart.
