Today is R U OK Day, a national day of action and a reminder to all Australians that you’ve got what it takes to have a life-changing conversation.
If you’ve noticed someone seems distracted or might be struggling, take the time to ask ‘R U OK?’ If they’re not okay, listen and encourage them to connect with the appropriate support. Try asking questions such as the following.
- What have you done in the past that’s been helpful?
- How would you like me to support you?
- What’s something you can do for yourself right now? Something that’s enjoyable or relaxing?
If they are okay, that person will know you’re someone who cares enough to ask.
