Our Background and Vision

The roots of the Heart Care Partners extends back 20 years  to 1988 when Dr. Geoff Holt commenced practice at the Wesley Hospital. The fledgling group started in the early 1990s when Dr. David Cross joined Geoff at the Wesley followed by Dr. Greg Scalia and Dr. Stephen Cox in 1997. We have been growing ever since.

Early in this growth Geoff had a vision that medicine would change in Australia like it had in the USA. He believed that it is critical for the preservation of patient care that doctors determine the health care agenda and that large group practice is the way to maintain stability and patient focussed care. As a result the group has continued to expand to meet the needs of referring doctors. We officially became the Heart Care Partners in 2005. Our practice now includes:

Our organisation has over 79 staff in multiple locations in Brisbane and regional Queensland (Wesley, Mater Private Hospital South Bribane, Greenslopes Private, Clayfield and Mt. Ommaney) and our doctors visit 11 regional clinics.

OUR VISION IS TO BE THE BENCHMARK IN CARDIAC CARE

We are working tirelessly to improve services to our patients through a number of initiatives. Our Doctors are extensively trained – at the best Australian and Overseas centers. Our information technology systems and software were purpose built to ensure  that we can offer our referring doctors and patients the best access to reporting and appointments.  Heart Care Partners is pioneering "Remote Cardiac Monitoring" in Australia and our cardiologists assist many regional providers of echocardiography by reporting on these cardiac tests remotely.

Audit and Quality Improvment:  Our cardiologists are committed to a clinical audit process focusing on outcomes and identifying deficiencies.  Comprehensive databases are maintained in intervention, pace maker & defibrillator insertion and non invasive cardiology eg echocardiography.  These audit processes allows our cardiologists to assess their existing treatments with guideline therapies, and respond to achieve treatment goals.

Clinical Research:  Our cardiologists are involved with numerous clinical research trials and studies of therapeutic strategies.  They believe that new medications or medical procedures should not be adopted without adequate assessment of their effectiveness, risk & costs: "Where we are unsure of the best way to treat a patient with a particular condition, we should consider enrolling them in a clinical trial."

We aim to support general practitioners and their practices through educational meetings and conferences which happen throughout the year.

We hope this website assists you in patient care and invite you to contribute to the development of this site by offering any suggestions on format or content to: info@heartcarepartners.com.au
